The effects of drug addiction are profoundly manifested in the addicts’ health and behaviors. Drug abuse deteriorates the human health. Individuals abusing drugs tend to lose their appetites and moods, they have impaired judgments, sleeping problems, and they are confused and depressed.The repercussions of the abuse and addiction become apparent after time when the violence and compulsiveness takes over. The physical tolls, including depression and illness can be debilitating at times. The only way to decrease drug abuse and addiction is to educate the public.Prolonged drug dependence interferes with just about every organ in the human body, and while different drugs have different damaging effects, these are some of the common conditions substance abuse can cause: Damaged immune system, which increases susceptibility to infection Cardiovascular conditions, including heart attacks and collapsed veins.
The use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs has negative impacts amongst the students who abuse this substances e.g. excessive alcohol consumption and the abuse of drugs are dangerous because alcohol and drug abuse can affect health and ability to function and think properly, almost every system in the body can be negatively affected by use of drugs and drinking of alcohol.While drugs affect everyone around them, some of the effects that drugs have on a user include becoming antisocial, losing sight of goals, being content with less, transforming into a different person, and gambling with health. Withdrawing from loved ones, such as friends and family, a drug user usually becomes antisocial.
Drug use impairs thinking and memory, and impacts how a person learns. Drug abuse also affects the body and overall health, causing potentially lasting issues like heart disease, lung cancer, kidney failure, and liver damage. Some of these long-term effects may be permanent, but many can be reversed by quitting and getting treatment.
